College and Technology
This is the week (or thereabouts) that teens are leaving for college. It's a difficult transition for both parents and students. But, technology has changed the whole situation. We have texting, cell phones, skype, online chat, facebook, etc. as communication tools... very different from the single rotary phone in the dorm hallway when I was in college.
I feel fortunate to have all of this technology and take advantage of all of it to stay in touch, but also helpful was a book called The iConnected Parent: Staying Close to Your Kids in College (and Beyond) While Letting Them Grow Up. It is highly recommended and confirmed that I'm doing (almost) everything right!
